Basic Hotel, a property with a shared lounge, is situated in Mindelo, 1.7 km from Torre de Belem, 1.4 km from Capvertdesign Artesanato, as well as 2.1 km from Diogo Alfonso Statue.

Basic, Clean, and Family Friendly
We absolutely LOVED our family stays here! Basic Hotel came with a nice breakfast, warm water, daily cleaning service, and they even folded our clothes! We also mentioned to them that we were headed on a day trip, to Santo Antao, and asked how breakfast worked on that day, because we had to leave early. They told us they would make us a breakfast package & they gave it to us the night before we left to Santo Antao. The Laginha Beach was only a 15 min walk, from the hotel, but they have quiet hours at 11pm; after being out all day, that was really easy, for our family. If you’re out past daylight, take a taxi home; even Cabo Verdean’s do it, because of the homeless people. Basic Hotel was basic & by no means perfect (couldn’t use the bathtub), but the basic hotel had a clean & safe environment, and made us feel very welcome.
Other info:
-The rivalry plays in the morning, which was funny to hear it live (not just an alarm tone).
-In Mindelo supermarkets, we found bringing a physical card (with pin), was easiest, for CVE money.
-Check in was no problem & we paid upon arrival.
-We asked about parking, because we had a rental car for a few days, and there was a parking spot close by (maybe 20 steps away) & other spots within walking distance, too.
-A supermarket was not far (maybe 5 min walking time), where we bought jugs of water (it’s recommended to use bottled water only, for consumption).
-Fruits were bought in the big market hall (beautiful place) called Mercado Municipal Mindelo.
-The hotel let us checkout early, gave us breakfast the night before (upon request), arranged a taxi for 5 (room for 11 people & had cost 20 Euros total upon airport arrival) & - Use Google translate if you don’t speak Portuguese, with the free hotel wifi
-Beggers are present, at the Main Street past the Blue Lagoon, & especially by the open markets. We spoke German and almost all stopped begging.
- If you want to give them milk or rice, for example, don’t let the beggar see where your money is. If you already have milk in a bag, then you can give it, for example. People are poor, so just smile & keep walking, and enjoy.
-Love the „No Stress“ Motto & Basic Hotel was just that!
We recommend staying here, for families, in a family room.

A very good hotel for an overnight stay.
A very good hotel for an overnight stay. We stayed one night on our way to Santo Antao. It was clean, comfortable and secure. The staff were welcoming and friendly. They helped us direct the taxi driver and he knew where to take us immediately based on the instructions we were given. The breakfast was included with our stay and it was perfectly satisfactory and served promptly when we got up. The coffee was very nice. The internet works well and the shower was hot. I wouldn't want to stay more than a couple of nights, as it was quite basic, it is a bit out of the way for restaurants and the military base nearby woke us up at 6am with full bugle reveille. But it cannot be faulted for the price. Excellent value for money.

Perfect . Highly recommended.
Nice little apartment with cooker and fridge .Great breakfast and room service.
Safe and clean .best Wifi we had in cape verde. Low price .10-15 min walk into town and to the beach . Supermarket just around the corner.

Perfect price-performance with great breakfast and amazing staff
The room was perfectly clean and groomed. The staff is amazing, friendly and very helpfull. There is a good WiFi connection in some of the rooms and at the Breakfast-Area. There is a great beach 10 minutes walking distance and by 15-20 minutes walking distance you´re right at the city center or ferry port to Santo Antao.

Mon épouse et moi, y avons passé 3 nuits
Excellent accueil de la part de nos hôtes. Ils feront tout pour vous satisfaire.
Nous avons même eu droit à un petit déjeuner en dehors des heures de service.
