Pretty, individual hotel in the suburb of Cologne-Rodenkirchen
The Falderhof is a rustic, country house-style hotel that is probably a listed ensemble. You don't notice that Rodenkirchen still belongs to Cologne. The situation can be described as quiet. The rooms are equipped to 3 star standards, spacious but not luxurious. The bathrooms are modernized 80s standard, but clean. No air conditioning, no minibar. The breakfast (buffet) is well stocked, but not exceptionally rich. The service was very friendly and attentive. Also applies to the reception. A plus: the neighboring hotel's own free parking lot. I'd love to come back.

Very good breakfst
We stayed here one night with my friend, his wife, and 5 year old. The rooms were very nice and clean and it was quiet. We arrived on their quiet day and thus had to use the lock-box to get our keys. Worked okay. I hate doing that because if it doesn't work, you're screwed. Anyway, parking was good though seeing that it was dark when we arrived, it was a little difficult to actually find the parking. Breakfast was very good and the location on their restaurant was wonderful. Would stay here again.

Gorgeous building - needs improvement
Gorgeous building - really historic and beautiful. Ideally situated in the quiet suburb of Surth. Handy for walks along the Rhein and just a short tram ride into Cologne.
Spotlessly clean. Decor a little old-fashioned but that didn't bother us.
Worst thing about our stay was that the blind didn't extend to the bottom of the window. It was so thin that it didn't keep the light out anyway and thanks to two outside lights just opposite our window, our room was not dark. We both had two disturbed nights sleep.
Other negative was breakfast. Supposedly served till 10 am but when we went in at 9 each day, some items had run out and were not replaced eg. ham, scrambled eggs, slices of cheese. Service was lacking - no-one around one day to get any coffee. We had to wait till she eventually noticed we'd arrived.
As a result, we wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Tram is 5 minutes away, top quality hotel
Lovely property, courtyard setting, modern large sunny bedrooms with top quality towels and bedding
great choice of breakfast, hot bread, eggs and variety of cereal
What the hotel doesnt tell you is that there is a tram stop, Surth, just 5 minutes up the road that takes you straight into the centre of Cologne so the free car parking is brilliant..

Pretty Hotel
From the outside one would expect to find a gem of a place. There is a huge cobblestoned inner courtyard and all bedrooms face the courtyard and are thus beautifully quiet. The room was wonderful, we loved the large frescoes on the walls. Only minus point was the bathroom which was really no longer up to standard. Tiles were cracked in places and the enamel of the shower also. Breakfast was brilliant. There was a huge choice of cold meats and cheeses and cereals etc. We are tea drinkers, there was a comprehensive choice of teas so no complaints on that score
