We'll be back!
Our hiking group was a guest at the Hotel Bergfried over Pentecost and everyone really liked it.
A beautiful location, rooms good (especially those already renovated), a small but fine breakfast buffet with fresh bread rolls (from the baker next door), good food in the restaurant and great, friendly service from Felix and his team.

A little behind the times.
The hotel is located in a beautiful town that was rebuilt after the war. There is a very nice view from the restaurant and the terrace, especially at sunset. Unfortunately, the hotel only has about 7 parking spaces of its own. In the whole town, you can only park for 1-2 hours with a parking disc, except from Saturday from 2 p.m. to Monday 7 a.m. or otherwise overnight from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. You are otherwise forced to park your vehicle about 1 km away in the town's large parking lot.
A fairly steep and slippery staircase (polished natural stone) leads to the rooms. The furniture in our room and the carpet had not been replaced since at least the 90s. The beds were good, though. The refrigerator didn't work. One day the room wasn't cleaned. This was also the case with at least one other room in our group the next day. When it was cleaned, it was done conscientiously. The water is a problem. Sometimes the hot water doesn't work, sometimes the toilet barely flushes.
The breakfast buffet was quite straightforward. There are also a lot of pre-packaged hotel portions. That would have been very good 30-40 years ago. Today, expectations are a little higher.
The restaurant is good. The food tastes very good and is generously portioned. And at reasonable prices. The service is very attentive and friendly.
One very positive thing: the dog is always allowed to accompany you, even to breakfast.

Very nice, quiet, friendly, family run hotel. Great views!
I stayed here for two nights in early June 2011. This is a very nice hotel with modern rooms and a very good kitchen. It is run by a family (multiple generations), and the service is both friendly and efficient. The property is clean and well-kept.
All rooms look out over a beautiful mountaintop view of the forest below (there are no rooms at all on the 'street' side of the hotel), because of this the rooms are quiet.
W-fi internet is available throughout the hotel at a cost of €5 per day. Room prices are reasonable (not inexpensive, but certainly not overly expensive either) and are posted in plain view at the front desk. Limited free parking is available. There is no air-conditioning, but at this elevation (this is a mountaintop hotel), I don't think air conditioning is really needed.
I do not believe that there is an elevator in this hotel, and all rooms are 'upstairs', so this might be a bit of a challenge to the handicapped. But, all in all, this is a very nice hotel and I would happily return in the future.

Historisch
Sehr schön historisch. Super Aussicht und sehr freundlich. Nette Bedienung. Preisleistung sehr gut. Schöne Terrasse und das Essen im Restaurant ist super lecker. Wir waren mehrfach da und immer zufrieden. Das Zimmer wo wir waren hatte kein Balkon aber trotzdem schöne Aussicht. Wir haben direkt angerufen und reserviert.

Ein sehr nettes Hotel
Wir waren eine Nacht im Hotel Bergfried in Waldenburg. Ein schönes Hotel mit Blick auf die schöne Landschaft von Hohenlohe. Das Frühstück war ok mit einer sehr nette Bedienung. Unser Zimmer war super für vier Leute. Sehr empfehlenswert.
