Completely successful
We were at Kathrin Beach for the 6th time now and it was another successful and relaxing vacation. The family atmosphere makes the vacation perfect. The entire complex is very well-maintained and clean, as are the rooms. The beds allow for a restful sleep. Only a little more shelf space in the bathroom and in the room would be nice. If you have a request, the staff members are all approachable. The renovation of the bar area and the terrace turned out super nice.
Thanks to the whole team and especially to Maria, Nicos, Christos, and Manos who put all their love and energy into the hotel. We are already looking forward to next year.

The worst stay experience of my life
In 7 days of stay the towels in the room were only changed once, the bathroom has no cleaning and only has 1 towel stand
The hotel does not provide bath gel and shampoo in the rooms.
The beds have to be the client to make because they only leave the sheets on the bed folded in 4, the room has no fire detector and no card to put on the door to say do not bother.
One day falls on the floor of the hall of access to the rooms by the floor being full of water and there is no sign indicating the danger of falling due to the wet piss, I went to the reception to report what happened and still laughed at my face.
The food is always the same every day, little deversity and quality, often with the sour food in special cucumber, tomatoes and pepper.
The pool has no rules, everything is allowed since having 50 people in the pis ina at the same time when the capacity is 25 people that is half, still had to carry with soccer balls in the face and head for some people were playing volleyball inside the pool.
The worst holidays of my life and the worst hotel in all asarated with more than 100 tourist units (hotels and resorts) where I spent holidays from Europe to the Caribbean.

Disappointing Stay Due to Poor Service and Room Issues
Overall, our stay was disappointing, mainly because of the service rather than the hotel itself.
Our room had an iron but no ironing board. There was only one pillow in the room, and reception told us they didn’t have any extras available.
The biggest issue was our room allocation. We had booked and paid for a Superior Room, but on our first night we were placed in what appeared to be a standard room. It overlooked a concrete wall, was below car park level, and felt dark and gloomy. The room was also noticeably smaller than the Superior Room we had booked and were eventually moved into, making it obvious that we had not been given the room we had paid for. We were only moved after I questioned whether we had actually been allocated the correct room. Had I not asked, I don’t believe we would have been moved.
This completely disrupted our first evening and following morning, as we couldn’t properly unpack before having to move rooms. Despite the inconvenience, nobody apologised or offered to help us move our luggage. The explanation we were given about travel delays and cancellations didn’t really make sense, especially as I had booked the holiday six months in advance and had emailed the hotel three times beforehand requesting a nice room, mentioning that we were celebrating my mum’s 50th birthday.
We also requested a kettle for the room, but weren’t given a cup to make tea. We eventually had to ask the bar staff if they could spare one. It summed up the stay really—everything seemed to require unnecessary effort.
The hotel feels like it has all the right ingredients but falls short in the details and customer service.
The half-board buffet was fairly disappointing, although we had some excellent meals at local tavernas and in Rethymno instead.
The pool area itself is nice, but there aren’t enough sun loungers around it, and I was surprised that guests have to pay an additional €8 per day to use the hotel’s beach sun loungers. It feels odd to pay extra for facilities that are part of the hotel. It’s also worth noting that this took place in 2026, and on one occasion I was wearing long linen trousers and a bikini when a member of staff told me, in his words, that it was “not very nice.” I don’t appreciate being told what to wear.
One experience on our final evening perfectly summed up the service. We’d spent a wonderful day at a nearby beach away from the hotel and arrived back just five minutes before the half-board buffet closed. I simply wanted to grab something quick to eat before going upstairs to shower and get ready for the evening. I was still wearing my beachwear, which seemed perfectly reasonable given that this is a beachfront hotel and I was eating in the hotel’s buffet—not a formal restaurant. A waiter approached me and told me that I should cover up next time I came for dinner. I found this unnecessary and quite irritating. The buffet food was very average, and being spoken to like that when I was simply trying to make use of the meal I’d already paid for left a sour taste.
Overall, the stay wasn’t terrible, and the hotel itself has plenty of potential. However, the poor room allocation, inconsistent customer service, lack of communication, and complete absence of even a simple apology left a lasting negative impression. Unfortunately, these issues overshadowed what could have been a much more enjoyable stay.

Hotel in a good location
Good location, but swimming without water shoes is very dangerous due to large rocks in the sea. Food is good. You can always find something. Friendly staff. However, very closely built together. You can see and hear each other on the balconies.
