Auberge of Yoichi
I also stayed at the famous restaurant of the same name when we ate there. There is no elevator, so you have to walk up to the third floor.
It's bigger than a business hotel, so I think it's better for the suitcase sometimes. The heating was good and comfortable.

Hotel also with Yoichi wine pairing dinner, with all the wow factors, a must for all wine lovers.
Located just outside JR station, an old building but awarded with its modern interior design. It's famous for it's local wine pairing dinner, offering some one of a kind wine. Staffs are helpful, surprisingly there is a small hot spring inside room. Dinner is absolutely delicious, we even brought wine in restaurants and borrowed glasses to room. The only drawback is that there is no lifts and the staffs will help to bring luggage to rooms.

Great relaxing and quiet experience in Yoichi. Good location connecting to ever must visit spots nearby. 2min walk to Nikka Distillery.
Great food experience during stay. Fantastic foods with great wine pairings. Ideal stay for wine lover and city escape in Yoichi.

The tasting menu and local wine pairing was the highlight of my stay and may also be the highlight of my 3 week trip of Japan. The quality and thoughtfulness of the dishes are complimented superbly by sommelier So-san's wonderful service and exquisite selection of world-class wine.
The room and hotel conditions were good but nothing extraordinary. The main downsides are the poor sound proofing and lack of elevators for those transporting heavy bags.

Hotel Loop is right across from Yoichi station and a few minutes walk to Nikka distillery which makes it a great location. The staff are friendly and they helped to reserve the Nikka distillery tour for us (which is free!). One of the best surprises is the restaurant. We had the multi-course tasting menu (included in our room charge) pair with wines from Hokkaido. The distillery tour and the dinner were definitely some of the highlights during our 3 weeks trip in Japan. The only problem was there is no elevator but the staff are happy to help. We look forward to returning to Yoichi and stay and dine at the Loop again
